Alex Guillen is a Brooklyn based artist and illustrator utilizing bright colors and anthropomorphizing the mundane to create humorous and playful compositions. Guillen’s nostalgic and adolescent style lends itself well to the whimsical character design and world building taking place in her drawings. She finds that adding a cute face to things is an effective way to escape from the harsh realities of bills and work, even if just for a fleeting moment.
She also loves cookie decorating, scary movies, and the early 2000s.
Guillen received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin in Fall 2017.
